Sparrows Austin at Our Campus! (Coming soon!)

Sparrows Austin shall be part of your loved one's PTGH experience. Sparrows Austin is an organization that creates social and engaging experiences for adults with Intellectual and developmental disabilities. A Sparrows Austin Activities Director shall be at PTGH Monday through Friday from 10am to 3pm and will work with the residents during activities that will include, but not be limited to: Cooking, baking, crafting, gaming, gardening, art, sculpting, photography, music, movement, museum visits, lake and water activities, events, concerts, hiking, and so much more. We are very proud to be the first site that hosts a Sparrows Austin Activities Director on a daily basis!

Accommodations
Plains Trail Group Home (PTGH) is a cozy ranch style house located in North Central Austin. The home is warm and feels like a family dwelling. PTGH features three private bedrooms and one shared bedroom. The home is licensed to accommodate five (5) adults at our facility. Bedrooms may include your furniture from home or may be furnished by the center. Basic furnishings provided by the center include a bed and bedding, side table and drawers, and a closet. Private areas may be decorated by the resident to make it their own.

Common areas and Campus
Common areas accessible to all residents include: a fully stocked kitchen, dining and living area with furnishings. Living area includes art supplies, games, entertainment center with movies and a gaming system.

Outdoor amenities includes a new garden, outdoor dining, and sun deck. There are plans to add an outdoor kitchen, outdoor activities area, an animal habitat, and a health hut with exercise equipment. Funding efforts will begin later this year.

Our Staff
Our staff shall undergo an extensive onboarding process and must be interested in providing warm and intentional care to our residents. Our staff shall be on-site 24 per day, seven days per week, and shall include a Center Director and attendants scheduled during the week and weekends. Our staff shall be carefully selected and must embody the center's philosophy of caregiving with respect and positivity.

Each member of the staff shall be background checked upon hiring and each year thereafter. All staff shall be required to undergo extensive orientation training and ongoing yearly continuing education.
